Can You Really Trust God? 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♂️

Friends,

With AI becoming more integrated into our daily lives, it’s easy to have trust issues.  Whether it’s filters that enhance our appearance, scripts that make average communicators sound like broadcast journalists, or posts with offers that seem too good to be true, knowing what’s real these days is challenging.

The truth is, no one wants to follow anything that’s fake, just like I shared in our last podcast episode, [Why Would Anyone Do Life God's Way?].  And that fuels our inner skeptic, making us question everything, including God.  Can you really trust Him?

I’ll start the rest of this blog post with a mic drop:

✨ Yes, you can trust God.

It’s a mic drop because it hits without adding anything else to it.  But for the sake of conversation, here’s another one:

✨ You can trust God because He’s trustworthy.

Now, here are two verses worth investigating to prove His trustworthiness.  As we explore them, I’ll also include some practical ways to can start or sustain trusting Him yourself.  Let’s dive in.

God is no mere human! He doesn't tell lies or change his mind. God always keeps his promises (Numbers‬ ‭23‬:‭19‬, ‭CEV‬‬).

Descendants of Jacob, I am the Lord All-Powerful, and I never change. That's why you haven't been wiped out (‭‭Malachi‬ ‭3‬:‭6‬, ‭CEV‬‬).

First thing to note is this:

💡God isn’t common.

That’s the takeaway from Numbers 23:19.  He’s not like human beings, so you can’t mix your thoughts about other people with Him.  He’s in an entirely different category altogether, evidenced by this reality: He doesn’t tell lies or change His mind.  He always operates from truth and will not say anything He doesn’t plan to execute.

💡God is consistent.

That’s the takeaway from Malachi 3:6.  He said this Himself: I never change.  If you’ve ever updated your smartphone or software on your computer or gaming system, then you know how different things can be afterwards.  God, on the other hand, went on record and said no matter the time—past, present, or future—He doesn’t change.  He will always be, who He’s always been.

So how do you use this wisdom practically to start or sustain trusting God?

✅ Check God’s history.

If you don’t have a personal relationship with God, start by reading what He already accomplished in the Bible.  You’ll see a pattern.  He backs what He says.  I love how He revealed that tendency here:

“That's right,” the Lord replied, “and I always rise early to keep a promise” (‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭1‬:‭12‬, ‭CEV‬‬).

If His figure of speech didn’t make sense to you, think of it like this.  His motivation (why He rises early) is keeping His promises.  That sounds like someone you can trust.

If you already have a relationship with God, go back over your history with Him.  What has He done for you in the past?  Then, think about Malachi 3:6 - He doesn’t change.  Whatever He’s already done, He can do again.  Remembering your journey is a great way to shift out of trust issues.

✅ Check your hangups.

I alluded to it earlier, but I’ll say it more directly now.  God isn’t like human beings.  He’s in an entirely different category.

It’s easy to project our human experiences onto our interactions with God, especially if we’ve been disappointed or hurt by others.  But here’s the difference.  God isn’t common and He’s consistent, 100% of the time.  Recognizing this will pull you out of treating Him like another person when you’re working through trust issues.

Now, let’s put it all together.  Because God is uncommon and consistent, He’s trustworthy.  When in doubt, check His history and your hangups and you’ll be able to distance yourself from trust challenges.

One final note - fully trusting God is one of His priorities for you, and aligning with His priorities is one of the five moves you can make for an incredible year.  I talked more about those moves in this podcast episode👉🏾: [5 Moves to Make for an Amazing Year].  Check it out for more wisdom to guide you through this year!

When God says so, I’ll be back with another blog post.  In the meantime, let’s keep the conversation going.

💬 How has God shown you that He’s trustworthy?  Share in the comments!

That’s a wrap for this blog post.  Until we connect again, let God take great care of you by putting your trust in Him as He proves He’s trustworthy.

Have an incredible day!
