Expect Something Great

Friends,

In our [last podcast episode], we shared how God’s Word is the best place to find a plan for your life.  Our goal was to inspire people to dig into His Word more consistently.

If this is a new or developing journey for you, don’t fret.  In this blog post, I’m going to share a ‘hack’ I didn’t learn until many years of reading God’s Word.  Without further ado, here it is:

✨ God rewards expectation.

That is, when you expect something from God, that aligns with His will for you, He provides, usually above and beyond what we expected.  Here’s proof:

But without faith no one can please God. We must believe that God is real and rewards everyone who searches for him (‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭11‬:‭6‬, ‭CEV‬‬).

God is real and rewards everyone who searches for Him.  Not just special ones.  Everyone.

Searching for Him is about expectation.  It’s coming to Him like He has exactly what you need, and you can’t get it anywhere else.  It’s having an insatiable hunger for Him, which, by the way, is another pathway to receiving what He has:

Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled (‭‭Matthew‬ ‭5‬:‭6‬, ‭KJV‬‬).

So, how do you develop this hunger and thirst?  What are the keys to expecting something great?  I’m glad you asked.

✅ #1: Unload Arrogance

The first key to expecting something great from God is realizing you’re not great alone.  If you think you know everything there is to know about everything there is to know, you’ll never make room to receive what God knows.  And if you haven’t done a background check on God recently, here’s a news flash.  He knows everything, just like this verse revealed:

To [the] only wise God be glory forevermore through Jesus Christ (the Anointed One)! Amen (so be it) (‭‭Romans‬ ‭16‬:‭27‬, ‭AMPC‬‬).

He can’t be the only wise God if He doesn’t know everything.  When you unload arrogance, you show awareness that He is superior and worth learning from.

✅ #2: Undivided Attention

The second key is locking into what God is saying.  This means eliminating all other distractions and focusing on His Word.  Here’s why this is important:

Break open your Word within me until revelation-light shines out! Those with open hearts are given insight into your plans (‭‭Psalms‬ ‭119‬:‭130‬, ‭TPT‬‬).

When you give His Word undivided attention, Holy Spirit, Who is our teacher and guide, can break open the Word within us.  At the end of that journey is something critical - insight into God’s plans.  Remember where we started this conversation?  The best place to find a plan for your life is in God’s Word and giving Him undivided attention is an easy way to receive the plan.
